Indie Yesterday Ep. 7

Do you remember the Britpop scene back in the day? Yeah? No? I know I do. It was really a pretty awesome scene. I remember thinking back then that if a band was coming out of England they WOULD be good. You can’t talk about the Britpop scene and not mention Blur. Well, I know I’m not. I was lucky enough to see Blur two times. Each time I saw them, I ended up being really impressed with the opening band. Echobelly opened for Blur at one of those shows. Before the show, I never heard of the band. They put on a nice, energetic show. Sonya Aurora Madan, the lead singer, had a really impressive voice, which you can tell in the live version of songs and live videos I posted on this blog.
I looked on iTunes and emusic for Echobelly and they don’t seem to have all of their albums on there for some reason. I didn’t really look anywhere else so I’m not sure how hard it will be to find their early albums. I can’t really comment on their more recent ones because I don’t have them. Their first two were the ones that made them really make it. The third wasn’t very impressive, even though I put two songs on this post from it which I really liked.
I guess you guys lucked out a little bit today because of my obsessive purchases of Echobelly CD’s back then. The live mp3’s were b-sides to one of their singles. I guess they could be kinda rare at this point, not that anybody is looking for them. But here’s my little remembrance of the Britpop scene. They were a little underrated during their time and almost forgotten today.
